Pirate Patches Available

In the famous words of our Parade Chair, the Fiesta of Five Flags parade is only TWO WEEKS AWAY….. (almost!) For our new members this is a fun filled downtown Pensacola Pirate parade! Since it’s usually pretty hot this time of year we leave the tux’s at home and wear our best (or worst) pirate outfits! Of course making sure we are identifiable by including some kind of Jester apparel!

As a Jester apparel option, some members of the Krewe have opted to purchase the Jester Pirate Patch (Approximately 10 x 11 inches). We only order in a minimum of 8 to receive a bulk purchase discount. The cost is $56 per patch, the vest and sewing are not included. Vests can be purchased on line, or at the Gulf Breeze Flea Market. The vest is not a requirement, some opt to put on a t-shirt or a jacket, however keep in mind all the pirate parades are in the warmer months. These are not required but are fun to have for our Krewe at the annual pirate parades we attend!

To order contact Lynn Feehan at contact@nkoj.org

Navarre Chamber Celebrates 1st Place in the Community Category and Overall Best Entry

2014 Navare Beach Mardi Gras parade a Smash

2014 was better than ever for the Navarre Beach Mardi Gras Parade. Once again the weather was on our side allowing as many as 30,000 or more spectaors to enjoy the best family friendly parade on the gulf coast. Congratulations to all our winners - clearly every entry this year went all out to fit within the theme of Mo-Town.

This year's overall winner was Soul Train by the Navarre Chamber of Commerce

    Community:
  • First Place Soul Train ( Navarre Chamber)
  • Second Place Mayoki Indians
  • Third Place American Legion
    Commercial:
  • First Place Kat House Hair Studio (Navarre Krewe of Misfits)
  • Second Place Tee Tie Babies (Krewe of Karribbean)
  • Third Place Krewe Of Lafitte
    Walking (non Motorized):
  • First Place Navarre Jr ROTC
  • Second Place Momentum Church
  • Third Place Martial Arts of America

The Krewe also wishes to thank our judges. Each year our judges are selected from the community and cannot be a member of the Krewe. They alone make the decision on the best entries based upon general theme guide lines, and once again they did a great job.

Relay For Life

We are selling the decorated mini hats for $5.00 and will be in either Pink or Purple. If you desire you may buy an undecorated one for $4.00 and decorate it as you desire!! For Mardi Gras, you might think of one in Purple; or Pink if desired. The proceeds of the sales are going toward the Relay for Life. We will also be selling them at the Relay for Life event in May 2014. If anyone would like a hat early, please contact Sandee Ward at sandeeward@mediacombb.net

2013 Scholarship Recipient Pens Note to Krewe

Cassidy Gardner Says Thanks and Boomer Sooner

Cassie's NoteCassidy "Cassie" Gardner, our 2013 $2000 Scholarship recipient, has taken time out to thank the Krewe for her scholarship. She is freshman attending the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK majoring in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship. Upon graduation she plans on being a wedding planner. The Scholarship Committe had many qualified applicants for the award this year, making the selection dificult but Cassidy seemed to have the perfect mix of personality, perseverance and dedication.

Congratulations again Cassidy and keep up the great work.

For those unaware Krewe members "Boomer Sooner" is the fight song for the University of Oklahoma written by Arthur M. Alden in 1905.

The Krewe Wants You

Are You Doing Your Part?

Did you know that to be a member in good standing every Krewe member must be an active part of a Krewe Committee? Everything that makes this Krewe function from funds brought in to put on the Parade and award our scholarship, planning for Krewe events, maintaining our float, even Krewe social functions requires active Krewe particpation. If you are not currently actively particpating in one or more of the committees now is the time to get active.
